Change Procedures

Applying for a modification of your AMS-IX connection or a new additional port

The procedure for an additional AMS-IX connection or upgrade, downgrade or relocation of your AMS-IX connection is as follows:

  1. For port relocations and additional ports, make sure that you have a contract with the colocation where you want us to enable your port.
  2. For pricing and technical specifications, please go to the pricing page or the technical page.
  3. In my.ams-ix.net go to your contract page, click 'Place an order' and follow the instructions.
  4. Upon receipt of your request the Customer Service team will draw up a revised Appendix/Attachment belonging to your current Connection Agreement. These will be sent to you within 3 business days by mail in .pdf format. Please print the document twice, sign both copies and send these back to AMS-IX BV before the expiration date. NB: Unsigned Appendices/Attachments expire one month after being drawn up.
  5. Upon receipt of the initialed documents the CEO of AMS-IX BV will countersign them and one copy will be sent back to you. At the same time we will start the process of assigning/configuring the requested connection for you.
  6. Our engineers will contact you with the details of the port modification on your envisioned assignment date or within 3 business days. Please inform the Customer Service team if the envisioned date should change.
  7. At this point you can start arranging cabling with the colocation. All AMS-IX colocations have indicated that they are willing and prepared to arrange cabling on request.
See the Cabling Specifications for more information on what you might need.
  8. New ports are always configured in a Quarantine VLAN. When your port is up and ready for production, you can contact the AMS-IX NOC team to configure the port in the appropriate production VLAN. Q-tagging on a previously untagged port generally requires changes on both sides to be carried out simultaneously. The NOC will inform you about the procedure.
  9. The port price shall be periodically invoiced and shall be due on the production date, with a maximum of 30 days after assignment.
  10. A migration period of 10 business days starts from the date on which the port is assigned. The old port and (if applicable) the old IP address must be returned to us at the end of this 10-day period. You can do this by sending an email to AMS-IX NOC. In case of any delay please contact Customer Service and we can discuss an extension of the migration period. If the above mentioned items are not returned in time and we haven't agreed to extending the migration period, AMS-IX will charge you for both connections until you have returned the above mentioned items.

Disconnecting one or all ports from AMS-IX

The disconnection procedure is as follows:

  1. In my.ams-ix.net go to your contract page, click 'Place an order' and follow the instructions.
  2. Upon receipt of this request the Customer Service team will send you an email to confirm your disconnection request.
  3. We will prepare to disconnect your port(s) at the end of the quarter in which AMS-IX BV receives the disconnection request. Be informed that we will charge you for this service up until that moment.
  4. If you are a member and have no remaining ports after this disconnection your membership at the AMS-IX Association will be terminated as well. In this case we will send you a letter to confirm your discontinued membership.
  5. If you still have remaining ports connected at AMS-IX we will draw up a revised Appendix/Attachment belonging to your Connection Agreement. This will be sent to you within 3 business days in .pdf format. Please print the document twice, sign both copies and send them back to the Customer Service team. NB: Unsigned Appendices/Attachments expire one month after being drawn up.
  6. Upon receipt of the signed documents the CEO of AMS-IX B.V. will countersign them and one copy will be sent back to you.
  7. You will be charged for the port(s) until the end of the quarter. At the beginning of the next quarter you will receive an e-mail with the details of the disconnected port.
  8. If you have any questions please contact the Customer Relations team or (for technical matters) the AMS-IX NOC.

Private Interconnect (PI) Request Procedure

Please see the PI Service Description for a description of the PI service.

The procedure for setting up a PI VLAN is as follows:

  1. The two parties in the interconnect agree on their conditions and decide who is Initiator and who is Participant.
  2. The Initiator fills in the Initiator PI request form on my.ams-ix.net to request a private interconnect with the Participant.
  3. The Participant fills in the Participant PI request form on my.ams-ix.net to request a private interconnect with the Initiator.
  4. Upon receipt of both requests AMS-IX will draw up revised Appendices/Attachments of each party's Connection Agreement, which will be sent electronically to the respective party. As with any other connection request, each revised Appendix/Attachment should be printed twice, signed and sent back to the Customer Service team before its expiration date. NB: Unsigned Appendices/Attachments expire one month after being drawn up.
  5. Upon receipt of the signed documents from both parties the CEO of AMS-IX BV will countersign and one copy will be sent back to you. At the same time we will start the process of assignment/configuration of a Private Interconnect for you.
  6. Taking into account your planned date of connection (if specified) or within 3 working days you will be contacted by our engineers with details of the private interconnect assignment. You will receive information regarding your private interconnect. Note that you will be charged from the date of port assignment onwards. Please inform Customer Service team if the planned date of connection should be changed.
  7. When a port is assigned, the colocation site is also notified; so once a port has been assigned, you can contact your colocation(s) and arrange any necessary cabling with them.
